This course provides contractors with practical, installation-focused training on Tremco’s below-grade waterproofing and deck coating systems. Participants will learn proper substrate preparation, sequencing, detailing, and application techniques for Tremco membranes, drainage systems, and traffic-bearing coatings. The course emphasizes field-proven best practices that reduce installation errors, minimize callbacks, and maximize system performance and longevity.
Real-world case studies and technical guidance help attendees identify and prevent common jobsite issues, understand compatibility and curing requirements, and execute high-quality installations in a variety of environmental and structural conditions. Objectives
By the end of this course, attendees will be able to:
- Prepare substrates correctly for below-grade membranes and deck coating systems, including cleaning, priming, and addressing environmental factors.
- Apply Tremco below-grade waterproofing membranes using proper sequencing, application techniques, and detailing practices.
- Install drainage composites, protection courses, and related accessories in accordance with Tremco guidelines.
- Perform hands-on installation of deck coating systems, including mixing, spreading, aggregate broadcasting, and topcoat finishing.
- Execute detailed, high-risk areas such as penetrations, corners, terminations, and transitions.
- Identify and correct common field installation errors through hands-on troubleshooting and repair techniques.
- Conduct basic quality-control checks, including adhesion testing, thickness verification, and environmental monitoring.
- Interpret system requirements, material compatibility considerations, and cure-time expectations.
- Coordinate installation sequencing with other trades and understand project planning impacts on waterproofing performance.
